I recently spent a night at Hotel Grand Barão in São Paulo, and it felt like a mixed bag. While the location in the vibrant República district offers access to colorful markets and cultural highlights like the Municipal Theatre, I was disappointed with the overall experience. The room, unfortunately, had a musty smell, which didn't help the uncomfortable vibe, and I was greeted by an unexpected guest - a cockroach! To their credit, the staff were helpful when I raised my concerns, swiftly moving me to a different room, but being in an area that felt a bit sketchy made me hesitant to explore too much after dark. The complimentary continental breakfast was decent, and having air conditioning and free Wi-Fi in the room were appreciated perks for me and my fellow travelers. If you're considering this spot, I'd advise looking for a bit more comfort and safety, especially for the price.
